Meeting Minutes

Romney Brew Station

May 6, 2026

 

 

 

 

I.         Call to Order – 10:03 AM

II.         Approval of Agenda – Motion to approve – JT Hott, 2nd Cathy Simon – motion passed unanimously

III.         Approve Meeting Minutes – Motion to approve – Tina Ladd, 2nd Christy Kauffman – motion passed unanimously

IV.         Reports:

·      Treasurer’s Report  - checking balance - $11,827.28

o      Motion to approve Christy Kauffman, 2nd JT Hott motion passed unanimously

·      Directors Report – sent via email. Motion to approve Christy Kauffman, 2nd Cathy Simon – motion passed unanimously

·      Membership Committee Report – Membership report up-to-date. Motion to approve Christy Kauffman, 2nd LeeAnn Wiiki – motion passed unanimously

·      Programs Committee Report -  Meeting was held to discuss the rest of the year for speakers.  All slots have been filled. Motion to approve JT Hott, 2nd Christy Kauffman.

·      Marketing  Report

o      Event Structure – discussed event structure again and named people for positions for the event on May 15th Statton and Christy will be at the check-in table, JT will be a greeter and sell 50/50 tickets, Jodi and Jackie will be greeters and help out where needed. Tote with all supplies is ready to take to events and can be found upstairs at the Brew Station. 

o      Email Marketing has a 50% open rate. Marketing report to be sent at a later date

o      Motion to approve JT Hott , 2nd Christy Kauffman – unanimously approved.

 

V.         Old Business

·      Hampshire on the Horizon – Cams Quick Lube won 1st, Appalachian Wedding Chapel won 2nd Blue Ridge Diversified won 3rd, Cady CPR Solutions won the Bungee Ascend Award, Cams Quick Lube won the People Choice award, and Cady CPR Solutions LLC won the Executive Membership for the Chamber of Commerce. A set of questions need to be established to determine the winner for the Chamber of Commerce award next year.

·      Legislative Exchange Update – it was not well attended.  The date for next year will be early in April with more advertising and food and drink.

·      Cams Quick Lube held their Open House.  Seems to have been well attended

·      Time Capsule – a subcommitee will be formed to start the ball rolling with this.  Statton has offered to see about getting a nice granite container for us to use and Mayor Keadle said that we could place it in the park beside Town Hall.  More to come on this one.

·      Summer Harvest Festival – committee needs to be established. Location will be at White House on Main St on Tuesday July 28th starting at 5pm

·      Hampshire County Day at the Capitol – more to come

·      Nonprofit status of the Chamber – approved and we are good to go

·      Chamber taxes 990 – JT is on top of this one.  He knows it has to be completed by the 15th of May.

·      Directors Insurance – JT brought an application that Jackie signed for Travelers Insurance.  Other quotes will be acquired before the next meeting.

·      It was agreed that adding new people to the Chamber board should be put on hold till our member meeting in the 4th quarter of the year. Doc Holiday (Capon Bridge Mayor) and Tessa (Slanesville Title) were mentioned to join our ranks

·      Friends of the Chamber (501c3) - Jodi will start working on this one now

·      Zoom account has been established for the Chamber and Membership email address has also been acquired.

·      Chamber board needs to decide if the AI bot that was built by LeeAnn Wiiki’s interns is going to be used.  It will cost about $100 a month to maintain which will be the responsibility of the Chamber.

 

VI.         New Business

·      May Networking event at Valley View Greenhouse – Sponsored by HCDA – Will have BBQ and fries. Chamber will provide water and sodas. Time is 4:30pm to 6pm

·      May Learning Series – Financial Planning for Business Owners taught by Mason Roach from the Bank of Romney

·      June Learning Series June 8th by Jenna Gelow

·      June Networking event June 12th 

·      June Hampshire Highlands Home Show 13th – Subcommittee needs to meet on this ASAP

·      July Learning Series July 13th – LeeAnn Wiiki

·      July 28th Summer Harvest Festival – Needs Subcommittee

 

VII.         Communications/Public Comment

 

Additional communication from the Executive Director:

Full Throttle Customs will have another event on the 15th of May. Check out Social media for details

The Redbird will have a soft open starting May 7th but you must purchas online and pick up at the door.
